Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 and professionally referred to by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to be signed for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. Her first single was released on the label on October 21 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she started to gain notoriety. The album that she released as her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her songs online in 2012 after she released her the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox dropped her single Bound along with her self-released mixtape Five Finger Discount. Sweat It is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21st, 2015. Later that year her music was circulating around the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some potential references to Rihanna. On December 28, 2008 it was announced that Rihanna had been hired to Dreamville Records. Backseat is one of the songs she recorded with Cozz for the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II. In October 21st, 2016 the debut EP of Ari Lennox was released titled Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track, and performed on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018, she was able to appear on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. The music video then released in September. She released her second single Grampa on November 9. Then on November 13 two new singles called One and Pedigree. One and pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby was then able to make appearances on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. The singer released the track as a single in order to announce her debut album Creed II on 26 February 2019. In February 2019, the video music for this track was launched. The track has garnered over three million YouTube views in just one week. In December of 2018 she performed on her From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
